The Occupy protesters have always felt a connection to Guy Fawkes and
today they will “remember remember the fifth of November” as protesters
around the world celebrate Guy Fawkes Day.At protests around the country and around the world protesters are donning the Guy Fawkes mask, made popular by the movie “V for Vendetta.”
But Guy Fawkes isn’t just some pop culture icon. People have been celebrating Guy Fawkes Day for the last four hundred years.
Guy Fawkes became an icon of dissidence and defiance after a failed plot to blow up parliament on November 5th, 1605. The mask, which first hit pop culture thirty years ago in the graphic novel “V For Vendetta,” has been adopted by people like Julian Assange and the hacker group Anonymous.
CNN reports that Anonymous members and Occupy protesters in London are planning to march on parliament today wearing Guy Fawkes masks.
Malcolm, a member of hacker group Anonymous, said:
“The point of wearing the mask is to be able to go to a protest without fear of retribution or aggression from the establishment.”But Guy Fawkes hasn’t always been a symbol of protest. Lewis Call, an assistant history professor in San Luis Obispo, said that Guy Fawkes image has drastically changed over the years.
Call told the Huffington Post:
“Gradually over the centuries, the meaning of Guy Fawkes has dramatically changed. The reputation of Guy Fawkes has been recuperated. Before he was originally seen as a terrorist trying to destroy England. Now he’s seen more as a freedom fighter, a fighter for individual liberty against an oppressive regime. The political meaning of that figure has transformed.”

The issue of magnitude, while researching an ancient calendar, the time frame of archaeologists trying to correlate them with the modern calendar (Gregorian).

For example, an important event, the date set forth battle ruler Dos pilas (Maya site in Guatemala). Ruler Balaj Chan K’awiil chose this date based on the appearance of ‘Chak Ek’.
By Stockholm University archaeologist, Johan Normark, ‘Chak Ek’ is defined as Venus. However, in his study Aldana oppose it. He said, ‘Chak Ek’ is a meteor.
Imagine, if the incidence correlated with Venus but actually it is associated with random events such as meteorite sightings? Clearly link the results of the Mayan calendar with time in the modern calendar was disheveled and definite difference.
In his writings, Aldana presents several reasons why the constants GMT unreliable. He’s not the first to doubt it.

ERCIS, Turkey — Rescue workers Thursday pulled out a man alive from the rubble more than 100 hours after an earthquake that killed more than 500 people in eastern Turkey, a Reuters witness said.

LONDON (AFP) - Singer Amy Winehouse was more than five times over the legal British drink-drive limit when she died, an inquest heard on Wednesday, as a coroner delivered a verdict of death by misadventure.
Winehouse, 27, was found dead at her London home on July 23 following years of alcohol and drug addiction.
The inquest, in London, was told she had drunk heavily after abstaining from alcohol for three weeks and was poisoned by alcohol.

Hollywood's bad girl will going all the way naked to grace the cover of the next edition of Playboy magazine reports the daily mail. Speaking of the Playboy proposal, Lohan's spokesperson said: 'I can neither confirm or deny at this time.'
As if juggling stripping and cleaning morgues isn't enough, Lohan has also sacked her business manager.
She reportedly split from Lou Taylor, who also manages Britney Spears, as he didn't have time to manage her and she required someone who could put more effort into her.
Lohan's representative Steve Honig said the split was amicable and the pair remain friends. Read More

It’s time to “Fall Back” with the end of Daylight Savings Time in 2011 on November 6, 2011 at 2am. Wait, is it Daylight Savings Time or Daylight Saving Time? An informal poll of my friends led to a uniformly plural “savings.” According to Wikipedia:
Although daylight saving time is considered to be correct, daylight savings time is commonly used. The form daylight saving time uses the present participle saving as an adjective, as in labor saving device; the first two words are sometimes hyphenated, as in daylight-saving time. The common variants daylight savings time and daylight savings use savings by analogy to savings account. Daylight time is also common
That clears things up, right? Well, ok maybe not.. But according to Dictionary.com, “This practice of advancing the clocks ahead an hour in the spring and adjusting them back an hour in the fall is called daylight saving time. But because daylight savings time is used so frequently, the term is also considered acceptable.” In other words, the incorrect version took hold to the point that it became acceptable (notice that they didn’t say “correct” but only acceptable).
It reminds me of the arrival of the year 2000, when purists insisted that the 21st century didn’t begin until 2001. That didn’t stop the masses from basking in the new century, whether or not that was even accurate. Don’t ruin my fun with the facts! So if you’re the smart-ass type, the next time someone says “Daylight Savings Time,” be sure to correct them with a snide “That’s Daylight SAVING Time!”

The expert, who helped write the guidance printed on every bottle of propofol, walked the jury through a number of possible scenarios in the hours leading up to Jackson's death during his testimony on Thursday.
The Columbia University professor said it was most likely that the star was on an IV propofol drip when he stopped breathing, but that Dr Conrad Murray was out of the room.
The propofol kept flowing as the star's lungs emptied and even after he was dead, Dr Shafer told the jury.
He also suggested Dr Murray gave Jackson 100ml of propofol, a larger amount than the 25ml Dr Murray claims he administered.
"This fits all of the data in this case and I am not aware of a single piece of data that is inconsistent with this explanation," Dr Shafer told the court.
